Jean Guerrero is the author of the forthcoming cross-border memoir CRUX, which won the PEN/Fusion Emerging Writers prize before it was published. She is a multimedia reporter with a background in visual and literary storytelling. Currently, she is the Fronteras reporter for the investigations desk at KPBS, contributing immigration stories to NPR, PBS NewsHour and other public media outlets across the country. She started her career at the Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires as a commodities correspondent in Mexico City, and trekked through mountains with coffee smugglers, opium poppy producers and maize farmers in Mexico and Central America. Guerrero filmed the WSJ’s first interview with Mexico’s President Enrique Peña Nieto. She has received multiple awards from the San Diego Press Club and the Society of Professional Journalists, and serves as the Vice President of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists for the San Diego-Tijuana region.
